Retro Blaster Boombox For Ipod Review

Ok, where do I start? The sound is full and rich with good bass response ( not booming bass like you would expect from 8" speakers). It won't blow out your windows, but it will get loud. I would take off points for not having a cd/cassette. But who needs them nowadays? The iPod dock comes with adapters (little sleeves to go on your ipod) but they are a little floppy and you have to take care inserting them. The tuner is amazing. I am picking up distant stations with the antenna downthat other boom boxes have to use an antenna for and still get static. Biggest drawback for me is that it's so big and awkward. It's size definitely gets attention though. The remote is a good size to hold onto and light weight. I have been able to get the remote to work about 45' away while at work. Although you can't read the screen that far away and have no idea what station it's on either. To sum up, I love it and would recommend it to anyone who needs a great sounding, portable radio, digital media, karaoke, alarm clock, ipod dock.

Coby CX-CD248 Portable Boombox with CD Player, Cassette Deck, and AM/FM Tuner Review

I ended up having a lot of trouble with skipping when using this boombox, especially when using burnt CDs.It also lacks a lot of features such as bass boost or a programmable play sequence.The sound is mediocre, but adequate.I'd recommend spending an extra $10-$20 and getting a better model.

Coby MP-CD450 Portable MP3/CD Player with AM/FM Tuner and Cassette Deck Review

I have usually ben happy with the Coby products I've owned in the past, but this one is a disappointment. I wanted to get an inexpensive boom box for my girlfriend to put in the kitchen that would not only play standard CDs but also mp3 CDs and had a radio and cassette recorder as well. The radio and cassette sections seem to do about as well as you'd expect for a boom box selling for $39.95. And yes, it seems to play standard CDs well, although it seems to not play the last track of some of them well. However, mp3 CD playback is very iffy. I have made over a hundred mp3 CDs, and some it will play and others, for whatever reason, it will start reading, then sit there and act like it's having trouble reading, then quit. It also seems it won't read certain brands of CDs I've burned. I don't understand why this thing is so picky. Despite this, I'm keeping the unit since I bought an extended warranty with it and it mostly does fine with its other functions. But I can only play some of my MP3 CDs on it. If you want something that seems much less picky, although not absolutely perfect, and you want something cheap and simple, try the Jwin JXCD472. I got one of those and that one seems to work much much better.

I was really excited to find this and thought it would be great for my little girl.But I am SO glad that I opened it to check it out before giving it to her.The player would load the cd and display the number of tracks but it would not play.The back button wouldn't work either.The sound quality seemed fine with the radio.Four adults including an engineer couldn't get the silly thing to play a cd.Needless to say, we returned it.For the last cherry on top when I went to return it I found that Amazon had reduced the price by $8.Highly disappointing.

I bought this for my mother-in-law, and I can say she's not disappointed.

Sound quality is OK - and if you were looking for a superb quality, you would look first to a Bose SoundDock and an ipod.

Size is also OK, it is light enough to be portable and dials have a decent size.

The only thing that I would complai about is that the color is not light blue, as it looks from the picture, but a darker hue.

Sony ZS-S2iP CD Boombox with iPod Dock, Black Review

The sound quality was akin to a decent radio alarm clock like the Sony Dream Machine. But that's not what I expect out of a boom box, especially a Sony. Whether playing a CD, radio, or iPod, the sound seemed a little tinny and the bass was virtually absent even with Sony's Mega Bass turned on. Too bad. If not for the sound quality, this would have been a very nice device.

Little Tikes DiscoverSounds Boom Box Review

This is a great toy and has been one of my son's favorites since his grannie bought it for him months ago.He's nearly 8 months now and has figured out how to make the music go on himself!It has been brilliant for stopping the tears!!Works every time!

The songs are not your usual nursery rhyme songs... I swear one of them is a song by Pink--- so I don't find myself humming twinkle twinkle little star to myself all day long! It's not overly loud and I don't mind listening to it over and over again.(I think there's five or six songs it goes through.)There is of course an off switch as well if you find it gets too much.

It's quite durable as well... my son has thrown it down from his highchair onto a wooden floor and I think the floor was hurt more than the toy!

There are so many toys out there for children it's hard to sort through them all, but this is a definite winner in my book!

Philips AZ1330D MP3/WMA-CD Speaker System with Remote Control and iPod Dock (Black) Review

This is the only product on the market that fit 3 simple requirements I had:
1. Portable boombox
2. Will play my stacks of mp3 CDs
3. Will dock my ipod and play songs from the boombox controls.

Didnt think that was alot to ask but this really is the only product of its kind.Works great and would have gotten 5 stars if not for following flaws:
1. No power button on the remote!This is a biggie.You have to remember to turn it on before you sit down across the room.And you cant leave it on all the time either because of its energy saving shutdown feature.

2. They got rid of the preset buttons in favor of a sleeker look.Thats OK, but it sure isnt as nice to go to your favorite AM or FM stations by hitting the forward and back buttons and cycling through all 25 presets.Would rather have the first 6 as hard keys (like in a car stereo).

3. AM antenna reception could be better.

4. Sleek & shiny black casing looks real slick and nice but it also shows fingerprints and dust alot.

5. [Minor complaint] CD loader is a tray that comes out like on a computer.Sort of slow but its OK.

Everything else is perfect in every way!Love this thing and highly recommend it if you can get over the issues above.

Sony CFD-ZW755 Portable CD / Cassette / Radio Boombox with Detachable Speakers Review

I like to play music -- mostly classical -- at my desk at work. This past week the volume control on my old Sony boombox broke (after nearly ten years of daily use) so I went out looking for a replacement. I was pleasantly surprised at the low prices of most of the units I saw, but they sounded rather tinny compared to the good sound I was used to from my old Sony. At the end of the shelf I found this model. When I inserted the CD which I had brought with me for auditioning, I immediately heard a clear improvement in sound over the less expensive models. In fact, the sound was even better than that of my old Sony with which I had been thoroughly pleased. I bought this model on the spot and the next day installed it next to my desk at work. It's very convenient too use, looks nice (compared to most current boomboxes) and sounds great. Sure it cost a few dollars more than the inferior-sounding units but(...) I'd say it's a great buy.
Incidentally, although I listen almost exclusively to CDs, this unit has two tape drives, which allow for tape dubbing (which a lot of cheaper models don't) as well as a digitally tuned AM/FM radio. Also the CD player has 1-bit conversion -- like the best CD players, but unlike most boomboxes -- which contributes to the better sound. As I said, it's a great buy.

This is a neat boombox.I use it when I am cooking or just relaxing.I have only used it indoors (where it sounds great), but I think it is good (though not the best) for outdoors as well.

I had modest expectations when I purchased this and it has worked very well for me.I use an ipod touch in the docking station at it works great.There is no way to navigate ipod menu's (such as artist, songs, and playlist) on the boombox itself, but I use the touch interface on my ipod and it works fine.Of course, the play, pause, and forward/backward skip buttons on the boombox can be used with the ipod (for example, after you choose your favorite artist, playlist,etc on your ipod unit then you can hit play on the boombox and the song will play).

The cd player works great even with heavily used or slightly scratched cds and also plays cdr or cdrw burnt cds. The radio gets great reception.Although you won't be able to throw a window shattering party with this one, I think it is a good buy for most people.

I did a lot of research before deciding on this particular disc/cassette/radio player & I'm glad I did. This is a real bargain for the money. It not only does everything, it has a remote to enable you to do it. I take it everywhere when it's on batteries. AND I've rediscovered cassettes! Unlike CDs, you can stop & rewind to the very spot you missed. Can't do that with CDs. The main reason I bought it was to listen to recorded books...disc & cassette. Love it, love it, love it! Sony CFDG700CP CD Boombox Radio Cassette Recorder Review

This is by far one of the best sounding CFD-G series boombox from Sony to date. With all those years experimenting with different subwoofer sizes and enclosure volume and bass reflex port lengths, Sony has finally found the right equation in the 700CP. To call this machine a boombox may be a bit of an insult, given the kind of sound it can deliver with its enormous speaker system and a powerful bi-amplifier.

The CFD-G700CP is huge. This is a boombox that requires so much table space it makes your Micro Hi-Fi (if you have one) look really, mirco. I'm sure some will get turned off by its loud and aggresive look, but the teenagers and those young at heart will love it. Especially the sound.

The 700CP can pump out so much bass, if you have not seen the unit yourself, you'd be wondering if you're listening to the bass sounds from a mid-sized bookshelf Hi-Fi. Of course, all that bass is worth nothing if the system can only deliver loud punchy bass with muffled mids and highs. No. The 700CP delivers everything from somewhere around 80Hz all the way to 16KHz, all in great clarity thanks to its Bi-Amplifier. The two full range speakers and metal tweeters are driven by a stereo amplifier used primarily to deliver mids and highs, and the 13cm subwoofer is pumping air through the front dual bass-reflex ports using a dedicated bass amplifier, keeping the mids and highs completely uninterrupted.

Even at high volume, the sound from the subwoofer remains solid and deep, and if you think there is just way too much bass, the subwoofer has two level settings for you to keep all that rumbling under control. You can also turn the bass amplifier off completely to listen exclusively to the sounds from the mid-high speakers.

The line-in port is neatly tucked away at the lower right hand side of the system with a built-in line in plug and also a jack, so you can either connect a portable music player directly to the device using the built-in line in plug (3.5mm stereo plug) or connect anything else to the device using a cable with a 3.5mm stereo plug on one end.

This boombox is of course missing a back-lit LCD, which is strange considering there was an earlier generation G series (G55 I think) that came with a red LED backlighting. Also, the cassette deck is a single-direction deck, so if you're still playing alot of cassette tapes, you'll be a little disappointed by the lack of the auto-reverse feature still found on most mid-range to high-end Micro Hi-Fis. The device also supports MP3 playback as well, but does not support Sony's proprietary Atrac3 files.

Hear it to believe it. This machine trumps Sony's CMT-EH10, CMT-NEZ33, CMT-NEZ55 plus alot of those self-proclaimed micro hi-fi systems out there. You won't be dissapointed. And to top it off, it runs on 8 D-size batteries (even the cheap Manganese ones) when you can't find an AC outlet or when there's a power outage.

jWin JXCD462 AM/FM Portable CD Boombox With Cassette Playback Review

A very affordable multi-purpose sound machine with generally easy-to-use controls* and better-than-expected sound quality. Though light-weight, the bulky (and to my taste unattractive) design is hard to fit on the shelves in my kitchen. Also, nothing in the description notes that portable use requires no fewer than EIGHT D-cells. If you choose rechargeable batteries (the sensible choice if you're using batteries most of the time), you'll spend much more money on the power supply than you did on the original player! Myself, I bought an extension cord, so I can't speak to battery life.

In short, for a reliable, listenable basic system, this is an excellent choice.

*The old-fashioned analog radio tuner can be difficult to use in large metropolitan areas with scores of radio stations. Not a problem if you just stick to a favorite station, however.
